Microsoft® .NET is Microsoft's strategy for delivering software as services using XML. .NET is the next generation of software that connects our world and enables devices, systems, servers, and people to collaborate in a unified way. This is acheived through the use of XML Web services on any platform or smart device.

The .NET Framework is the infrastructure for the overall .NET Platform. The framework allows businesses to develop solutions that scale across servers and firewalls and across the internet. The heart of the .NET Framework is the common language runtime and class libraries (including Windows Forms, ADO.NET, and ASP.NET) that allow this interaction. The .NET Framework provides services and solutions that can be easily integrated across a variety of systems, as well as within those systems.
